In keeping with the museum’s vital, mission-statement commitment to interpret the Mansion in relation to the rich and diverse cultural history of its neighborhood, the museum is pleased and honored to join with Marjorie Eliot and Parlor Entertainment in keeping alive the great tradition of African-American classical music. The annual jazz festival emphasizes the cultural significance of the Sugar Hill neighborhood and celebrates the jazz greats who have lived in the Mansion’s immediate neighborhood, including Duke Ellington and Andy Kirk.
