Aaron Burr’s Bedchamber

Aaron Burr, Revolutionary War hero and third vice-president of the United States, married Madame Jumel in 1833. Their marriage was short-lived and coincidentally, Burr died on the day the divorce was granted in 1836.

The room is decorated in the style of the 1830’s. Furniture became heavier and elaborately carved surfaces replaced the lighter inlaid ornamentation of the Federal period.
