Front Parlor

The front parlor, the most formal room of the house, is set to represent the time in which Stephen and Eliza Jumel lived in the Mansion. Many of the furnishings in this parlor actually belonged to the Jumel family. The wallpaper in the room is a reproduction based on a surviving panel that is exhibited in the second-floor hall.

Eliza married Aaron Burr, the former Vice President of the United States, in the front parlor a year after the death of Stephen Jumel.
