George Washington’s Bedchamber & Study, 1776

General George Washington lived at Morris-Jumel Mansion, in September and October of 1776, when the Continental Army forced British troops to retreat during the Revolutionary War Battle of Harlem Heights. His staff, including aide-de-camps, generals, a personal slave and cook, accompanied Washington to the Mansion. The room is furnished in the late 18th century style.
