Colonial Kitchen
The Morris-Jumel Mansion kitchen includes the original hearth and beehive oven that was used by the family’s servants and slaves. General George Washington’s servants also utilized the kitchen during his time at the Mansion in 1776. In addition to preparing and cooking food over the hearth, the utilitarian space was used for general domestic work including laundering, candle and soap making, and sewing. The colonial kitchen displays various tools like toasters, cooking utensils, waffle irons, and candle molds.
