May | National Historic Preservation Month
Join us for a special, expanded Family Day as we celebrate National Historic Preservation Month! Arch for Kids/Architecture for Children will be on hand to guide participants in creating their own replica of Morris-Jumel Mansion and Roger Morris Park.
June | Flag Day
Discover the history of the flags that have flown over the Morris-Jumel Mansion and New York City, and design your own personal banner to hoist
July | Colonial Ice Cream
Take a break from the summer heat and make your own colonial inspired ice cream! Learn all about the history of ice cream during the 1700’s, and the many different unusual flavors colonists enjoyed. Then make your own colonial flavored ice cream, such as lavender, or a classic flavor, like vanilla.
August | In the Garden
Savor the great outdoors and join us for this Family Day out in the Garden. Sally Fisher of Friends of Inwood Hill Park will also be on hand to teach how to make treasures out of trash with plarn (yarn made out of plastic bags)!
September | Battle of Harlem Heights
Washington has taken over the Mount Morris estate! Commemorate the Battle of Harlem Heights and General Washington’s time at the Mansion with Knowlton’s Rangers!
October | Masks
Create your own mask for the Halloween season under the direction of master teaching artist Howard Berelson!
November | Candle Making
Discover the history of illumination at the Mansion and create your own unique candle!
December | Paper Ornaments
Seasons greetings! Create your own paper ornament to decorate your tree this holiday season.
